The Safeway For U Program is one of the best grocery loyalty programs available because it offers multiple digital savings tools and personalized savings based on each shopper’s purchase history. They give discounts on the items you purchase most often—that’s pretty easy.

The specific features and benefits of the For U program include the following.

1. Member prices on sale items. If you don’t use the loyalty program, you will pay full price.
2. Welcome offer for new members of a $5.00 coupon off an order of at least $25.00.
3. One free item per month (up to a $10.00 value). The item will be listed in the digital coupon section of the website or app. With a single click each month, that’s 12 free items a year worth up to a total of $120.
4. Personalized discounts based on your purchase history. As long as you click the item discount, the value will come off automatically at the register.
5. Digital coupons. With a simple click, you’ll get cash off specific items. There is no limit to the number of coupons you can add to your account, so it pays to check the digital coupon section every time you shop and click away. When you buy the item, the value comes off at the register. If you share the account with other family members, the coupons will come off when they shop with no effort on their part. This is the only way I’ve been able to get my husband to use coupons—he doesn’t even realize he’s using coupons!
6. One free item for your birthday (up to a $10.00 value), as long as you enter your birthday when you register for the For U program.
7. Earn reward points towards free grocery items based on your spending. Earn 1 point per dollar spent, and redeem 100 points for 1 reward. You’ll need to spend $100 on groceries (with some exclusions) or $50.00 on gift cards to earn 1 reward, which you can redeem for a selected list of grocery items or cash off your next order. In general, the reward value ranges from 1 to 2 percent of your total spending. In addition, you’ll find digital coupons to multiply the value of your rewards points, so you may exceed 2 percent savings when you click on those point promotion coupons each week.
8. Earn reward points toward gas discounts. You can redeem your rewards for $0.10 off per gallon of gas per reward at participating stores, saving up to $1.00 per gallon if you used 10 rewards.
